The Opportunity

Treasury Prime, the leading Banking as a Service (BaaS) company, was founded in 2017 in San Francisco and connects banks and FinTechs through an API so that developers can build in minutes. As a high-growth company that has raised more than $30M from leading venture capital firms including Deciens Capital, Nyca Partners, Pacific Western Bank, QED Investors, SaaStr Fund, Susa Ventures, and Y Combinator, the company wanted to help employees better understand their equity compensation and support employees making financial decisions. 

The leadership team at Treasury Prime has deep experience in finance, having worked at financial institutions and the FDIC. As financial experts, it was imperative that they found a partner who they trusted and met high technical standards. 

“The main reason we were looking to bring on a benefit like Addition Wealth was equity compensation,” explained Mike Shaw, Director of People Operations at Treasury Prime. “We quickly realized that equity was only going to be a piece of the overall value and that we were actually going to be able to help people with everything related to their personal finances, which has turned out to be extremely valuable for our employees.”

The Solution

  • An equity value calculator that pulled in the company’s latest 409a and last round preferred to enable employees to explore the value of their equity 
  • A webinar series led by CFPs and CPAs on Treasury Prime equity, as well as other relevant personal finance topics 
  • Unlimited access to CFPs and CPAs, all of whom have deep expertise in equity compensation

And while equity may have kickstarted the initial conversations, Treasury Prime quickly recognized the value of Addition Wealth for personal finance topics across the board, with employees also turning to Addition Wealth for support with education around retirement planning options.

“People say this is the best benefit we offer. We even had one employee tell us she was actively interviewing CFAs on her own but that she was able to get what she needed through Addition,” Shaw added.
